Stochastic volatility models and the Taylor effect

It has been often empirically observed that the sample autocorrelations of absolute financial returns are larger than those of squared returns. This property, know as Taylor effect, is analysed in this paper in the Stochastic Volatility (SV) model framework. We show that the stationary autoregressive SV model is able to generate this property for realistic parameter specifications. On the other hand, the Taylor effect is shown not to be a sampling phenomena due to estimation biases of the sample autocorrelations. Therefore, financial models that aims to explain the behaviour of financial returns should take account of this property

Fostering cooperation in the European Union on skills, training and knowledge transfer in cultural heritage professions

SciacchitanoFor the first time, the Council of the European Union has invited a group of national experts to investigate skills, training and knowledge transfer in the heritage professions in Europe. The group was operational in 2017 and 2018 under the Work Plan for Culture 2015-2018, with the support of the European Commission. This report is intended to be a resource for the European Union (EU) to ensure the long-term sustainability of Europe’s cultural heritage. It aims to do this by contributing to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 objective ‘to support the development of specialised skills and improve knowledge management and knowledge transfer in the cultural heritage sector, taking into account the implications of the digital shift’. The Museum of Pedagogy of Belgrade (Serbia) and the communication of educational heritage

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer una aproximación al Museo de la Pedagogía de Belgrado (Serbia), y su nueva museografía inaugurada en el año 2007, que destaca por ofrecer un mensaje claro y divulgativo de la Historia de la Educación en Serbia desde sus orígenes hasta el siglo XX. Dicho museo fue visitado en agosto de 2015, compilando información documental y fotográfica para el presente trabajo. Comprendiendo el patrimonio educativo como protagonista del museo, iniciamos el discurso del artículo con el concepto de museografía didáctica, para tratar a continuación el origen e historia del Museo y sus colecciones con mención especial a los agentes involucrados en la gestión del museo. Finalmente, apoyándonos en la documentación fotográfica, tratamos el desarrollo museo-gráfico.This article aims to provide an approach to the Museum of Pedagogy in Belgrade (Serbia) and its exhibition display. Opened in 2007, the Museum can offer a clear and informative message of the History of Education in Serbia since its beginning to the Twentieth century. The museum was visited in August 2015 by the author of this paper, that collected the Catalogue and others, and tooked pictures about it in order to be able to write this paper. Understanding the Educational Heritage as the main subject of the Museum, we began the paper with the concept of didactical museography, to then treat the origin and the history of the museum and its collections with a mention of the Museum stakeholders.. Preventive conservation and sustainability of heritage collections in transit

This paper aims to present the complexity of the preventive conservation and sustainability of the collections that are included in the temporary exhibition ‘Auschwitz. Not Long Ago. Not Far Away’, opened in Madrid in December 2017 and scheduled to travel to new destinations over the next 7 years. It was produced in co-operation with the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Poland. The exhibit objects belong to more than twenty international collections concerned with the Heritage of the Holocaust. The methodology to analyze the sustainability of a traveling exhibition has been introduced, in the stage of the preparation, production, assembly, operation, disassembly, and transportation to the next venue, in order to take into consideration the whole Life Cycle of the exhibition. Recensión académica sobre patrimonio cultural y su conservación

Una recensión académica o bibliográfica es un proceso de lectura crítica de un texto científico: una publicación en una revista, un libro, un artículo, una tesis o una comunicación a un congreso. Es, por tanto, un trabajo expositivo breve sobre el contenido de un documento y debe poner en relieve lo fundamental del mismo. Como tal, consta de una estructura ordenada que parte desde los datos básicos de la obra a analizar, hasta la valoración que le estamos dando a la misma. Por tanto, no es solo un resumen o un análisis de contenido, sino que es un análisis metódico en el que vamos a valorar sus propuestas y avances respecto a un tema que en principio pertenece a nuestra área de estudio (contenidos y repercusión), esto es, el patrimonio cultural tangible e intangible y su conservación. Presupone la lectura razonada de la obra con cierta base previa sobre el tema. Presupone, asimismo, una familiarización en cuanto al vocabulario, las hipótesis del texto y las maneras de expresarlo. Cuantas mas obras leamos, más destreza tendremos en realizar dicho análisis y en discriminar o seleccionar las fuentes bibliográficas para nuestros trabajos de investigación, que podría ser una aplicación práctica de las recensiones académicas en patrimonio cultural y su conservación. El documento exige varias lecturas: desde una primera lectura general, a una segunda lectura en profundidad para extraer las ideas principales, y otra tercera con la información previa en la que podemos apoyarnos para reflexionar y ofrecer así nuestro análisis. Para estas lecturas, es necesario tomar notas y marcar las ideas (con post-its, etc, cuidando el libro). Podemos hacernos una tabla previa de conceptos en la que ir cumplimentando nuestras observaciones. Las reseñas bibliográficas son un apartado específico en buena parte de revistas especializadas sobre Patrimonio Cultural, y ayudan a los lectores a conocer la obra de una manera sistemática y breve antes de decidir su adquisición o lectura. Es decir, suscita el interés y ayuda por tanto a la comunidad profesional y académica. Suele abordar una extensión de dos páginas y se acompaña con una foto de la portada del libro. El presente apartado compila quince recensiones bibliográficas individuales y personales realizadas por las alumnas y alumnos de la asignatura “Metodología científica aplicada a la conservación de patrimonio” en el curso 2021-2022. A lo largo de las recensiones bibliográficas se ha materializado el espíritu crítico y sintético necesario para construir un trabajo académico de estas características, presentando la obra, su estructura y contenido, las ideas predominantes y la valoración personal. La elección del libro por su parte demuestra la multidisciplinariedad que existe a la hora de abordar el Patrimonio cultural y su conservación, y corresponde a los intereses y los perfiles educativos de alumnas y alumnos

To study, to conserve and to communicate the traumatic events heritage: the exhibition: “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away”

El artículo que presentamos a continuación tiene como objeto mostrar la complejidad de la gestión exposición temporal “Auschwitz. No hace mucho, no muy lejos”, inaugurada en Madrid en Diciembre de 2017 en cooperación con el Museo Estatal de Auschwitz-Birkenau (Polonia), y que tiene prevista su itinerancia en Europa y América en los próximos años. Formada por más de veinte colecciones internacionales de un patrimonio sensible como es el procedente del Holocausto, este artículo tiene como objetivo plantear los retos y las soluciones aportadas en la recepción de las colecciones reunidas por primera vez, en el desarrollo de un sistema informático de gestión documental creado ex novo, en la aplicación de los protocolos de conservación durante el montaje, y en el control y seguimiento de las colecciones en exposición.This paper aims to present the complexity of the Collections Management related to the Temporary Exhibition “Auschwitz, not long ago, not far away”, opened in Madrid in December 2017 in cooperation with the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau (Poland), and will travel to Europe and America in the following years. Aportaciones a la historia del patrimonio catedralicio de Sevilla y su participación en exposiciones artísticas, litúrgicas y culturales: una investigación de archivo (1888-1958)

On a Cultural Heritage research, History of Art and Fine Arts are the fist starting to build the History of Heritage, but as happens with the History of the Museums and Museology, requires other complementary disciplines and research tools, that belongs to Anthropology, Architecture, Sociology, etc. All of them are necessary to focus on the interdisciplinary study, as the same meaning as the axis of cultural heritage and its management. In this context, the main focus has been the heritage management: the heritage documentation process, the conservation-restoration process, the valorization and dissemination in a period between the year 1888 to 1958. Through a research about the past time of these processes we can obtain a History of the Cathedral Cultural Heritage. We present in this paper the involvement in artistic, cultural and religious exhibitions by studying the historical archives.En una investigación patrimonial, la Historia del Arte y las Bellas Artes son el punto de partida para la construcción de la Historia del Patrimonio, si bien requiere de otras disciplinas y herramientas de investigación, complementarias. La Antropología, la Arquitectura, la Sociología, etc. son necesarias para poder enfocar el estudio interdisciplinar que tenga como eje el significado mismo de patrimonio cultural y su gestión. Bajo esta premisa se ha investigado el patrimonio catedralicio de Sevilla, su identificación, documentación, procesos de conservación-restauración, valorización y difusión, como eslabones de la cadena de gestión del patrimonio en el periodo que abarca desde el año 1888-1958. A través de la investigación sobre el pasado de estos procesos, obtenemos como resultado una Historia del Patrimonio catedralicio, del que exponemos en el presente artículo la participación en exposiciones artísticas, litúrgicas y culturales a través del archivo histórico de la Catedral de Sevilla
